Nous ne voulons pas adopter rapidement tous les articles ne faisant pas l'objet d'un amendement puis revenir aux autres à la toute fin, pour la simple raison qu'il y a un ordre à suivre et une certaine continuité associée au projet de loi en ce qui concerne les diverses questions à l'étude.
It's not our intention to dispense with every clause that has no amendment and then come back and do the clauses, for the simple reason that there's an order, a systematic order, and some continuity associated with the bill as we walk through the various issues.

Next, with regard to the specific actions of the programme, I should like to highlight the importance of the following: the development of tools to enable scientific assessment of the effects on consumers of exposure to chemicals released from products; the compilation of an inventory, what one might call a vade-mecum , of the existing legislation, regulations and practices in the Member States in relation to consumer protection and including an assessment of the implementation of Community legislation at national level; and exchanges between national and local consumer associations in order to assist public authorities to make legislation at a European level in matters concerning the protection of users in the field of services of general economic interest, and that is the meaning of our Amendment 58.

Si je puis me permettre, je voudrais pour terminer donner mon avis sur certains amendements afin de clarifier la position de la Commission et je commencerai par les amendements 30 et 57. Ceux-ci sont en contradiction avec la proposition concernant la traçabilité et l'étiquetage dans le mesure où ils élargissent le champ d'application de la directive pour y inclure également les produits destinés à la consommation humaine et animale fabriqués à l'aide d'OGM.
If, finally, I may now offer my views on certain of the amendments in order to clarify the Commission’s attitude, I will begin by commenting on Amendment Nos 30 and 57 which cannot be approved because they go against the proposal on traceability and marking by extending the proposal also to include food and feed manufactured with the aid of GMOs.
