Hopes that the future European Fisheries Fund in support of the reformed Common Fisheries Policy will provide for specific budget lines for sustainable aquaculture development and support for investment in that sector, following best environmental practice, and to promote economic activity and employment with a particular focus on technologically innovative plants with a lesser environmental impact (e.g. water purification systems for eliminating residues and pollutants), farms that promote fish health and welfare and sustainable forms of aquaculture; stresses that these budget lines should provide for additional funding from the European Fisheries Fund and should not be financed through an overall cut in spending in other sectors, in particular fisheries;
