Je ne vois donc vraiment pas comment nous pourrions justifier le fait d'ajouter encore plus d'argent, deux millions de dollars, à une cagnotte sans savoir vraiment comment l'argent sera dépensé ou comment il ne le sera pas.
So I can't see how we could possibly justify putting more money, $2 million, into a pot when we don't know for sure how it would be spent or not spent.

As for the rest, I should just like to add that France has indeed looked into a number of areas of reform with a view to answering the concerns behind the proposal to establish a Tobin-type tax, even if questions of how it is actually going to work remain unanswered. I do agree with you, however, we could be discussing this for a long time to come.

These types of comments, saying the federal government has powers to do something about that referendum, and then refusing to explain how and what powers it will use add to the confusion (1430 ) I will ask the Prime Minister again: If he knows what he is talking about, how does he propose to use federal powers to effect the fairness of the next Quebec referendum?
