TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

-a) au paragraphe 1, l'alinéa suivant est ajouté: "En ce qui concerne les fournisseurs de biocarburants destinés à être utilisés dans l'aviation, les États membres peuvent leur permettre de décider de contribuer à l'obligation de réduction énoncée au paragraphe 2, dans la mesure où les biocarburants fournis respectent les critères de durabilité fixés à l'article 7 ter". -a bis) au paragraphe 2, l'alinéa suivant est ajouté: "Les États membres peuvent prévoir que la contribution maximale des biocarburants produits à partir de céréales et d'autres plantes riches en amidon, sucrières et oléagineuses et à partir d'autres cultures cultivées en tant que cultures principales essentiellement à des fins de production d'énergie sur des terres agricoles aux fins du respect de l'objectif visé au premier alinéa ne dépasse pas la contribution maximale fixée à l'article 3, paragraphe 4, deuxième alinéa, point d), de la directive 2009/28/CE".
(-a) in paragraph 1, the following subparagraph is added: 'In the case of suppliers of biofuels for use in aviation, Member States may permit such suppliers to choose to become contributors to the reduction obligation laid down in paragraph 2 to the extent that the biofuels supplied satisfy the sustainability criteria set out in Article 7b' (-aa) in paragraph 2, the following subparagraph is added: 'Member States may provide that the maximum contribution of biofuels produced from cereal and other starch rich crops, sugars and oil crops and from other crops grown as main crops primarily for energy purposes on agricultural land for the purpose of compliance with the target referred to in the first subparagraph shall not exceed the maximum contribution established in point (d) of the second subparagraph of Article 3(4) of Directive 2009/28/EC'.

Today I would like to highlight developments in aviation biofuel, the opportunity it presents for Canada, and the need for the federal government to develop a comprehensive and coordinated policy framework to advance aviation biofuels into production and use.

En dernier lieu, je signalerai qu’outre l’intégration du secteur de l’aviation dans le système d’échange de droits d’émission, il existe sans aucun doute d’autres mesures. Il s’agit notamment de celles que vous avez mentionnées, à savoir l’amélioration du trafic aérien, les investissements dans la recherche en vue du développement, de l’amélioration et de l’utilisation de technologies plus écologiques, le recours potentiel aux biocarburants pour l’aviation - bien que cette dernière option demeure au stade de la recherche -, ainsi qu’une série d’autres mesures éventuellement applicables en parallèle afin d’atténuer l’impact de l’aviation sur le changement climatique.
Finally, I should like to say that, without doubt, in addition to including aviation in the trading system, there are other measures, such as those you mention: improvement of air traffic, investment in research, so that more environmentally-friendly technologies can be developed, improved and used, the possible use of biofuels in airlines – although this last option is still at the research stage – and a series of other measures which can be applied in parallel in order to mitigate the impact of aviation on climate change.
