Expresses its concern at Kosovo’s current precarious energy situation, which is having a negative impact on day-to-day life; points out that the current level of electricity losses and related commercial damage are very high on account of grids wearing out, and calls for major reforms to improve energy efficiency and security of supply through investment in the rehabilitation of the existing electricity grid network, since a functional electricity grid is a prerequisite for domestic and foreign companies wishing to establish a business in Kosovo; urges the Energy Regulatory Office to be more flexible in granting licences and authorisations to new business investors in the renewables sector; takes note of the agreement reached on the construction of the New Kosovo power plant in conjunction with US company Contour Global, which will have a generating capacity of 500 MW, and calls for a transparent process accompanied by a social and environmental impact assessment of the project, in full compliance with EU standards;

Recalls that, currently, there is no uniform GI protection for non-agricultural products at EU level but several legal frameworks ensuring only national or regional protection; in this context, underlines the fact that the discrepancies between the present legal frameworks may result in consumer deception, counterfeiting and unfair competition; considers that a uniform EU system for registration, protection, monitoring and enforcement, aiming at increasing awareness of the value of these products among consumers and producers and ensuring the preservation of traditional handcrafts and skills, should be based on an impact assessment, and that such a system could better inform consumers about the authenticity of products and protect the rightful owners of a registered product and guarantee its quality and distinctive features; believes, furthermore, that registration of such products by the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market should result in more uniform and better protected GIs;
