- Sustainable region (Thematic Objective 6, Investment Priority 6c) with the Specific Objective: Promote the sustainable valorisation and preservation of natural and cultural assets as growth assets in the Adriatic-Ionian area; (Thematic Objective 6, Investment Priority 6d) with the Specific Objective: Enhance the capacity in transnationally tackling environmental vulnerability, fragmentation and the safeguarding of ecosystem services in the Adriatic-Ionian area;

34. souligne l'importance d'une interconnexion plus réelle entre la stratégie Europe 2020 et les trois piliers, en particulier en ce qui concerne le pilier de la croissance bleue de la stratégie pour la région de l'Adriatique et de la mer Ionienne, sur la base du plan d'action de la Commission européenne; considère le plan d'action comme l'un des résultats de l'approche de la stratégie visant à identifier les priorités concrètes de la macrorégion; souligne qu'à partir de ces éléments, chaque action ou projet est sélectionné à l'issue d'une large consultation partant de la base, associant un large éventail de parties prenantes dans la région adriatico-ionienne, représentant les autorités nationales, régionales et locales, les partenaires sociaux, mais aussi le secteur privé, l'économie sociale, les universitaires et la société civile;

Stresses the importance of a greater and real interconnection between the EU 2020 strategy and the three pillars (especially the blue growth pillar) of the EUSAIR strategy based on the European Commission Action Plan; considers the Action Plan as one of the outputs of the strategy approach identifying the concrete priorities for the macro-region; points out that, on the basis of this, each action or project is selected by an extensive bottom-up consultation process involving a range of stakeholders from the Adriatic-Ionian Region representing national, regional and local authorities, social partners, but also the private sector, the social economy, academia and civil society;

4. souligne, eu égard aux nombreux défis économiques, sociaux et environnementaux similaires auxquels sont confrontées toutes les régions dont l'appartenance au bassin méditerranéen constitue l'un des éléments principaux de leur patrimoine, l'intérêt que présenterait la création d'une macrorégion pour la Méditerranée, en tant que telle ou sous la forme de sous-régions cohérentes à l'instar des nouvelles initiatives adriatico-ioniennes qui s'intéressent aux domaines clés où les synergies, les partenariats et la coopération régionale devraient être renforcés afin de créer une croissance durable dans la région méditerranéenne;

Emphasises, in light of the numerous similar economic, social and environmental challenges faced by all regions sharing the Mediterranean Sea as a major element of their heritage, the interest in creating a macro-region for the Mediterranean, be it as a whole or in the form of coherent sub-regions such as the emerging Adriatic-Ionian initiatives to address those key areas where synergies, partnerships and regional cooperation should be strengthened in order to create sustainable growth in the Mediterranean region;

Suite à la déclaration d'Ancône, plusieurs réseaux de coopération institutionnelle ont été activés afin de soutenir la cohésion et la compétitivité dans la région de l'Adriatique et de la mer Ionienne: l'eurorégion adriatique/ionienne, le forum des villes des mers Adriatique et Ionienne, le forum des chambres de commerce de la zone adriatique et ionienne, Uniadrion, et l'initiative adriatico-ionienne.
With reference to the Ancona declaration, several institutional cooperation networks were activated to support cohesion and competitiveness in the Adriatic and Ionian region: the Adriatic and Ionian Euroregion, the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities, the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce, Uniadrion and the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.

Si la coopération dans la région adriatico-ionienne est fondamentale lorsqu'il s'agit d'aider les pays des Balkans occidentaux dans le cadre du processus de préadhésion et de renforcer les liens avec les macrorégions du Danube et de la mer Baltique, il est également essentiel de considérer l'espace adriatico-ionien comme une zone fonctionnelle du bassin méditerranéen.
While Adriatic and Ionian regional cooperation is fundamental to assisting the countries of the Western Balkans in the pre-accession process, and to strengthening links with the Danube and Baltic macro-regions, it is also essential to consider the Adriatic and Ionian area as a functional area of the Mediterranean basin.

Le Comité souhaite souligner que, si la coopération dans la région adriatico-ionienne est fondamentale lorsqu'il s'agit d'aider les pays des Balkans occidentaux dans le cadre du processus de préadhésion et de renforcer les liens avec les macrorégions du Danube et de la mer Baltique, il est également essentiel de considérer l'espace adriatico-ionien comme une zone fonctionnelle du Bassin méditerranéen.
The EESC would like to emphasise that while Adriatic and Ionian regional cooperation is fundamental to assisting the countries of the Western Balkans in the pre-accession process, and strengthening links with the Danube and Baltic macro-regions, it is also essential to consider the Adriatic and Ionian area as a functional area of the Mediterranean basin.

Bien que ces dernières années plusieurs initiatives et projets de partenariats liés aux questions macrorégionales aient été mis en œuvre dans la zone de coopération concernée (l'eurorégion adriatique, le forum des chambres de commerce de la zone adriatique et ionienne, le forum des villes des mers Adriatique et Ionienne, Uniadrion, etc.), le CESE souhaite également faire remarquer que cette stratégie a nécessité beaucoup de temps pour se concrétiser malgré le fait que les discussions sur l'initiative adriatico-ionienne ait été lancées dès octobre 1999 à la demande du gouvernement italien et que l'initiative ait été adoptée officiellement par la signature de la déclaration d'Ancône en mai 2000.
Although in recent years several partnership initiatives and projects relating to macro regional issues have been carried out in the cooperation area concerned (‘Adriatic Euroregion’, ‘Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce’, ‘Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities’, Uniadrion, etc.) the EESC would also point out that this strategy has taken a long time to materialise despite the fact that discussions on the ‘Adriatic and Ionian Initiative’ began as far back as October 1999 at the behest of the Italian government and were officially established in May 2000 with the ‘Ancona Declaration’.

O. whereas the proposal for an Adriatic-Ionian macro-regional strategy is progressing, taking place in the context of longstanding cooperation and solidarity in a contiguous territory around the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, and supported by the eight participating states of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII), as repeatedly demonstrated in the statements made by the eight foreign ministers who signed up to the Initiative in Ancona (2010), Brussels (2011) and Belgrade (2012);

La Serbie, qui est aussi un pays candidat, est un des huit membres de l’initiative adriatico-ionienne[8]. D’autres pays de la région ont aussi un intérêt politique et économique dans les activités maritimes en mer Adriatique et en mer Ionienne et peuvent à ce titre être associées au cas par cas à des activités spécifiques.
Serbia, also a candidate country, is one of the eight members of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.[8] Other countries in the area also have a political and economic interest in maritime activities in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, and can thus be involved in specific activities on a case-by-case basis.
