L’objectif du livre vert était d’ouvrir la voie à un plan d’action sur la mobilité urbaine. La décision du Parlement de poursuivre son propre plan d’action avant de recevoir une proposition de la part de la Commission représente un signal politique fort. C’est pourquoi j’ai souligné l’importance du travail de M. Savary en tant que rapporteur, car il montre quelle importance le Parlement accorde à un travail que nous ne pouvons absolument pas nous permettre de négliger.
The aim of the Paper was to pave the way for an action plan on urban mobility; Parliament’s decision to go ahead with its own action plan before any Commission proposal was made sends a strong political signal; that is why I emphasised the significance of Mr Savary’s work as rapporteur, as it shows how much importance Parliament attaches to a job we absolutely cannot afford to neglect.
