IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

11. invite la Russie à respecter pleinement la souveraineté et l'intégrité territoriale de la Géorgie, ainsi que l'inviolabilité de ses frontières internationalement reconnues, à revenir sur sa reconnaissance de la sécession des régions géorgiennes d'Abkhazie et de Tskhinvali, en Ossétie du Sud, et à y mettre fin à son occupation, ainsi qu'à respecter l'engagement réciproque de ne pas faire usage de la force contre la Géorgie; condamne, à cet égard, la conclusion du traité d'alliance et de partenariat stratégique, entre le territoire occupé de l'Abkhazie et la Russie, ; estime qu'il s'agit là d'une mesure prise par la Russie pour procéder à l'annexion pure et simple de l'Abkhazie; exprime également son inquiétude de voir un tel «traité» être également conclu avec les territoires occupés de la région de Tskhinvali/Ossétie du Sud; à cet égard, demande à la Fédération de Russie de retirer ce «traité» et de se conformer à ses obligations découlant de l'accord de cessez-le-feu du 12 août 2008;
11. Calls on Russia to respect fully the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as the inviolability of its internationally recognised borders, to reverse its recognition of the separation of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia and to end its occupation thereof, and to reciprocate the commitment to the non-use of force vis-à-vis Georgia; condemns, in this regard, the conclusion of the ‘alliance and strategic partnership’ treaty between the occupied territory of Abkhazia and Russia; views this as a step taken by Russia to conclude the full annexation of Abkhazia; expresses further concern that a similar ’treaty’ may be concluded with the occupied territory of Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia as well; in this regard, calls on the Russian Federation to withdraw the so called ‘treaty’ and comply with its obligations under the 12 August 2008 Ceasefire Agreement;

Notes with satisfaction that the international community almost unanimously rejects the unilateral declaration of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia; deplores the recognition by the Russian Federation of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as contrary to the international law; calls on all parties to respect the Ceasefire Agreement of 2008 as well as to guarantee the safety and free access of EUMM personnel on the ground and calls on Russia to honour its commitment to withdraw its troops to the positions held before the outbreak of the August 2008 war; notes with concern the agreement of 17 February 2010 between the Russian Federation and the de facto authorities of Abkhazia to establish a Russian military base in Abkhazia without the consent of the Government of Georgia and notes that such an agreement is in contradiction with the Ceasefire Agreements of 12 August and 8 September 2008;

Calls on Russia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Georgia and the inviolability of its internationally recognised borders, and therefore strongly condemns the recognition by the Russian Federation of the independence of the breakaway Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as contrary to international law; notes with serious concern the agreement between the Russian Federation and the de facto authorities of Abkhazia of 17 February 2010 concerning the establishment of a Russian military base in Abkhazia without the consent of the Government of Georgia and notes that such an agreement is in contradiction with the Ceasefire Agreements of 12 August and 8 September 2008;

whereas no official high-level meetings have taken place between Georgian and Abkhaz representatives under the auspices of the United Nations (UN) since October 2007; whereas the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has put forward new proposals concerning the resolution of the conflict in Abkhazia, which include broad political representation at the highest levels of the Georgian government, granting veto rights on all major legislation related to Abkhazia, and establishing international guarantees to ensure broad federalism, unlimited autonomy and security,
