I refer to your reply to Question H-0649/02 , that information was requested from the Irish Government on its compliance with Directive 85/337/EEC and the impact of the proposed road project on the archeological heritage at Carrickmines Castle. Given the declared intention to proceed to dismantle part of the remains and cover most of them with a motorway, will the Commission urgently establish whether the Environmental Impact Assessment properly appraised the impact on the archeological heritage of the site and if a revised and complete EIA should be carried out before any action is taken that endangers the integrity of this unique archeological site?
