Le rapport de la Commission de juin 2007 (COM(2007)0207)), intitulé "Certains points concernant l'assurance automobile", examine plusieurs aspects importants, en particulier la mise en œuvre de la quatrième directive sur l'assurance automobile pour ce qui est des dispositions nationales en matière de sanctions et de l'efficacité de ces dispositions, l'efficacité du système du représentant chargé du règlement des sinistres et la possibilité actuelle pour les victimes potentielles d'un accident de la route de souscrire une assurance volontaire couvrant les frais de justice.
The Commission Report of June 2007 (COM 2007(0207)) on certain issues relating to motor insurance examines several important issues, namely the implementation of the 4 Motor Insurance Directive on national penalty provisions and the effectiveness of these provisions, the effectiveness of the claims representative mechanism, and the present availability of voluntary legal expenses insurance, which can be additionally taken out by potential victims of road accidents.

The European Commission has issued a report addressed to the European Parliament and the Council on two motor insurance issues – compensation bodies and third-party liability cover for trailers.

Toutefois, le rapport identifie des cas où les victimes pourraient rencontrer des difficultés pour obtenir une indemnisation lors d’un accident impliquant une remorque et propose des solutions éventuelles qui pourraient être examinées lors de la refonte des directives sur l’assurance automobile, prévue pour 2007-2008.
However, the report does identify cases where victims might encounter difficulties in obtaining compensation for an accident with a trailer and suggests possible solutions which could be examined when there is a recasting of the Motor Insurance Directives, planned for 2007-2008.

Le rapport conclut également que les organismes d’indemnisation opèrent harmonieusement dans l’UE et qu’aucune révision majeure des directives sur l’assurance automobile n’est nécessaire à ce stade.
The report also concludes that compensation bodies are operating smoothly in the EU and that no major revision of the Motor Insurance Directives is required at this stage.

S’appuyant sur les diverses consultations des États membres, de l’industrie et du public organisées en 2005 (voir IP/05/747), le rapport propose des solutions éventuelles pour l’amélioration de l’indemnisation des victimes d’accidents impliquant une remorque. Ces points pourraient être examinés lors de la refonte des directives sur l’assurance automobile en 2007-2008.
Based upon various consultations carried out in 2005 with Member States, industry and the public (see IP/05/747), the report suggests possible solutions for improving compensation for victims of accidents with a trailer, which could be examined when there is a recasting of the Motor Insurance Directives in 2007-2008.
