1. À la demande du Parlement européen, du Conseil et de la Commission, le comité rend un avis sur les questions liées aux besoins des utilisateurs et aux coûts supportés par les fournisseurs de données concernant le développement de la politique de l’information statistique communautaire, les priorités du programme statistique communautaire, l’évaluation des statistiques existantes, la qualité des données et la politique de diffusion.
1. At the request of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, the Committee shall deliver an opinion on matters relating to user requirements and costs incurred by data suppliers in the development of the Community’s statistical information policy, in the priorities of the Community statistical programme, in the evaluation of existing statistics, in data quality and in dissemination policy.

Pour préparer et élaborer la politique communautaire de l’information statistique, la consultation des producteurs et des utilisateurs d’informations statistiques ainsi que des répondants aux enquêtes permettant d’obtenir ces informations est indispensable.
The consultation of users and producers of statistical information as well as respondents to requests for such information is essential for the preparation and development of the Community’s statistical information policy.

Actuellement, le comité consultatif européen de l’information statistique dans les domaines économique et social institué par la décision 91/116/CEE du Conseil , assiste le Conseil et la Commission dans la coordination des objectifs de la politique de l’information statistique communautaire, tout en tenant compte des besoins des utilisateurs et des coûts supportés par les fournisseurs et les producteurs d’informations.
The European Advisory Committee on Statistical Information in the Economic and Social Spheres set up by Council Decision 91/116/EEC currently assists the Council and the Commission in the coordination of the objectives of the Community’s statistical information policy, taking into account user requirements and the costs borne by information providers and producers.

C'est pour cela que j'approuve la réforme qui conduit, d'une part, à créer un comité consultatif européen sur la politique de l'information statistique communautaire et, d'autre part, à créer un Conseil consultatif européen pour la gouvernance statistique, capables de jouer un rôle actif dans le contrôle de la mise en œuvre du code de bonne conduite par l'ensemble du système statistique européen.
For these reasons I support the reform, which will result firstly in the establishment of a European Advisory Committee on Community Statistical Information Policy and secondly in the creation of a European Statistical Governance Advisory Board – both bodies capable of actively helping to monitor implementation of the code of conduct throughout the entire European statistical system.

Je suis particulièrement satisfaite que nous ayons pu nous entendre avec le Conseil sur la nécessité d'encourager le dialogue, non seulement entre le futur conseil, le Comité du programme statistique et le Comité consultatif européen sur la politique de l'information statistique communautaire mais aussi avec les organes concernés dans les États membres.
I am particularly pleased that we have been able to agree with the Council that dialogue should be encouraged, not only between the Board and this Statistical Programme Committee and the European Statistical Advisory Committee, but also with Member States’ stakeholder bodies.

33. appelle l'attention de la Commission sur la nécessité de souligner l'importance de la femme en tant que promoteur principal de la santé et d'incorporer, partant, la perspective de genre dans les politiques, les statistiques et les études afférentes à la santé; fait valoir qu'à l'heure actuelle, 20% de la population mondiale est en âge de procréer et qu'il est donc vital que l'information sur la santé en matière de sexualité et de procréation et les services y afférents, tels que le planning familial et les services de maternité sans danger soient accessibles de manière que cette catégorie de population puisse se prémunir contre les grossesses non désirées, les avortements clandestins et les maladies de sexuellement transmissibles, en ce compris le VIH/SIDA; souligne que le nombre et le taux d'infection par le VIH auprès des femmes et des jeunes filles s'accroissent par rapport à la population masculine; souligne qu'en 1997, 41% des adultes séropositifs étaient des femmes et des jeunes filles et qu'actuellement ce groupe représente 50% de toutes les personnes séropositives ou ayant contracté le sida dans le monde; constate également que dans l'Afrique subsaharienne, ce chiffre est de 58%;

Points out to the Commission that the importance of women as primary health promoters should be highlighted and that a gender perspective therefore needs to be introduced into health policies, into the statistics and research relating to them and into education, environment, international trade, agriculture and immigration policies; 20% of the world's population are currently of child-bearing age, making it crucial for information to be provided on sexual and reproductive health and health services, such as family planning and safe motherhood services, so as to enable this section of the population to guard against unwanted pregnancies, clandestine abortion and sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS; stresses that the numbers and rates of HIV infection among women and girls are rising compared to those of men; points out that in 1997, 41% of HIV-positive adults were women and girls, and yet today this group accounts for 50% of all people living with HIV or AIDS worldwide; also notes that in sub-Saharan Africa, the figure is 58%;

Draws the Commission's attention to the desirability of highlighting the importance of women as the main promoters of health and the consequent need to incorporate the gender perspective in health policies, statistics and studies on this subject; points out that, at present, 20% of the world population is of reproductive age and it is therefore crucial that information on sexual and reproductive health and sexual and reproductive health services should be available to help this section of the population protect themselves against unwanted pregnancy, clandestine abortion and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS;
