Is the Commission aware of the problem which some hauliers are encountering whereby they have faced fines and the seizure of trucks carrying out operations which were, up to the implementation of EU Regulation (EC) No 1072/2009, completely legal? Is the Commission aware that the 'combined transport' concept is also unworkable for trade between Ireland and the UK due to the minimum 100 km water journey and maximum 150 km road journey?

10. invite la Commission à mettre à profit les enseignements tirés de la stratégie pour la mer Baltique d'un point de vue opérationnel; demande par conséquent que le document qui sera élaboré soit assorti d'un plan d'action; est d'avis que le plan d'action devrait comporter notamment les aspects suivants: un réaménagement du Danube, dans le respect de l'environnement, afin d'en faire une voie navigable plus performante, les liaisons avec la région, fortement développée, du Rhin via l'axe Rhin-Main-Danube, l'intégration des différents modes de transport le long du Danube, le développement des installations hydroélectriques le long du Danube dans le respect de l'environnement, la préservation et l'amélioration de la qualité des eaux du Danube conformément à la directive-cadre sur l'eau, des normes strictes de sécurité pour les navires, le développement d'un tourisme qui préserve l'environnement et des améliorations en matière d'éducation, de recherche et de cohésion sociale;
10. Calls on the Commission to draw on the operational experience gained with the Baltic Sea Strategy; asks, accordingly, for an action plan to complement the document; is of the opinion that that action plan should include the following elements: environment-friendly upgrading of the Danube to a more efficient waterway, interconnection with the highly developed Rhine region via the Rhine-Main-Danube Axis, intermodality along the Danube, environment-friendly upgrading of hydroelectric facilities along the Danube, preservation and improvement of Danube water quality in accordance with the Water Framework Directive, stringent vessel safety requirements, development of environment-friendly tourism and improvements in the fields of education, research and social cohesion;

Je suis d’accord avec eux concernant le besoin immense, immédiat et urgent de rétablir le Danube en tant que voie navigable pour un transport durable – il y a le programme Marco Polo, qui est encore si mal utilisé – ou en tant que vecteur d’un développement touristique unique – parce que, bien sûr, les paysages sont incroyables – ou en tant que source d’énergie renouvelable.
I agree with them on the immense, immediate and urgent need to restore the Danube as a waterway for sustainable transport – there is the Marco Polo Programme, which is still so badly utilised – or as a vector of unique touristic development – because, of course, the landscapes are amazing – or as a source of renewable energy.

Beaucoup de gens et d'organisations non gouvernementales déploient déjà d'énormes efforts dans un grand esprit communautaire pour préserver la voie navigable et son patrimoine, afin que les générations futures puissent en jouir.
Many people and non-governmental organizations are hard at work already doing their part with great community spirit to preserve the waterway and its heritage for the benefit and enjoyment for future generations.

24. relève que, le 5 avril 2002, le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies a décidé, comme le recommandait le Secrétaire général de cette organisation, de maintenir la mission d'observation des Nations unies pour l'Irak et le Koweït (MONUIK), qui continue de surveiller la voie navigable du Khor Abdullah et la zone démilitarisée, contribuant ainsi à préserver le calme et la stabilité dans la zone frontalière;
24. Notes that on 5 April 2002 the UN Security Council decided, as recommended by the UN Secretary General, to maintain the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) which continues to monitor the Khawr'Abd Allah waterway, and the demilitarised zone, thereby contributing to the maintenance of calm and stability in the border area;

b) le parc de la capitale nationale connu sous le nom de ferme Moffatt, un espace vert longeant la voie navigable patrimoniale de la rivière Rideau, à Mooney's Bay, près des écluses de Hog's Back, le tout faisant partie de l'ancien et historique canal Rideau et de la voie navigable du canal Rideau, espace vert que la Commission de la capitale nationale détient depuis des décennies comme domaine de régie publique devant être protégé pour le bien général et l'utilisation du public;
(b) to the national capital parkland known as the Moffatt Farm, a riverfront parkland on the heritage waterway, the Rideau River, at Mooney's Bay, near the entrance to the Hog's Back Locks, all of which form a part of the ancient and historic Rideau Canal and the Rideau Canal Waterway System, a parkland which for decades has been held by the National Capital Commission as a commissioned public trust for its protection for the public good and for the public use;
