Y est étroitement associée l'initiative « Surveillance mondiale de l'environnement et de la sécurité » (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security - GMES) qui a pour but de développer des services de suivi afin d'appuyer les politiques en matière d'environnement et de sécurité.
