Vu que le traité CECA expire le 23 juillet 2002 et qu'à compter du 24 juillet 2002 le champ d'application de ce traité relèvera du traité instituant la Communauté européenne, il a été décidé de transférer les droits et obligations découlant des accords internationaux conclus par la CECA à la Communauté européenne.
Given that the ECSC Treaty expires on 23 July 2002 and that as from 24 July 2002 the Treaty's field of application will be covered by the Treaty establishing the European Community, it was decided that the rights and obligations arising under the international agreements concluded by the ECSC should be transferred to the European Community.

On 8 March last, the Commission submitted to the Council the Communication "Expiry of the ECSC Treaty: financial activities after 2002" containing the following amended proposals, which are based on the Protocol on the financial consequences of the expiry of the ECSC Treaty and on the research fund for coal and steel, annexed to the Treaty of Nice.
