Even though conferences will tell you that, if the Shipping Conferences Exemption Act did not exist here in Canada, they would not call on Canadian ports, we think that is a lot of hogwash, because we know as a fact, for instance, that on the North Atlantic the conference that serves Canada out of the east coast carries 65 per cent of its cargo from the U.S. Midwest, where they operate as non-conference carriers.
