For the purposes of this Regulation, the exchange of information and the cooperation with Ireland and the United Kingdom may take place on the basis of bilateral or multilateral agreements between Ireland or the United Kingdom respectively and one or several neighbouring Member States or through regional networks based on those agreements.

1) Le Fonds international pour l'Irlande (ci-après dénommé "le Fonds") a été institué en 1986 par l'accord du 18 septembre 1986 entre le gouvernement d'Irlande et le gouvernement du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande du Nord concernant le Fonds international pour l'Irlande (dénommé ci-après "l'accord") en vue de promouvoir le progrès économique et social et d'encourager les contacts, le dialogue et la réconciliation entre les nationalistes et les unionistes dans toute l'Irlande, pour mettre en œuvre l'un des objectifs définis par le traité anglo-irlandais du 15 novembre 1985.
(1) The International Fund for Ireland (“the Fund”) was established in 1986 by the Agreement of 18 September 1986 between the Government of Ireland and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the International Fund for Ireland (“the Agreement”) in order to promote economic and social advancement, and to encourage contact, dialogue and reconciliation between nationalists and unionists throughout Ireland, in the implementation of one of the objectives specified by the Anglo-Irish Agreement of 15 November 1985.
