Calls on the Commission, therefore, to develop a specific EU quality label for aquaculture products, along with a specific organic aquaculture label, establishing strict rules in accordance with EU principles of high-quality organic production, so as to assure the consumer of the reliability of the system for the production, control and full traceability of aquaculture products; encourages the Commission to consider using already existing labelling structures for high-quality organic aquaculture production;

It concludes that current meat inspection systems can be improved when supplemented with information from the complete production chain, use of the Hazard Analysis, Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles in the slaughter plant and microbiological monitoring of faecal indicator organisms.

Approving this proposal for a framework decision would, therefore, openly contravene the fundamental principle of every democratic system, under which restrictions on freedoms may only be imposed by virtue of a legislative act approved by Parliament, which is the sole democratically representative organ.

In accordance with the precautionary principle, and without prejudice to the provisions of Directive 2001/18/EC, the objectives of this Regulation are to establish a common system of notification and information for transboundary movements of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and to ensure coherent implementation of the provisions of the Protocol on behalf of the Community in order to contribute to ensuring an adequate level of protection in the field of the safe transfer, handling and use of GMOs that may have adverse effects on the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, taking also into account risks to human health.
Overeenkomstig het voorzorgsbeginsel en zonder afbreuk te doen aan de bepalingen van Richtlijn 2001/18/EG, heeft deze verordening tot doel een gemeenschappelijk systeem van kennisgeving en informatie voor grensoverschrijdende verplaatsingen van genetisch gemodificeerde organismen (GGO's) in te stellen en een waarborg te bieden voor samenhangende uitvoering van de bepalingen van het protocol namens de Gemeenschap, teneinde bij te dragen tot een afdoende beschermingsniveau op het gebied van de veilige overdracht, de veilige behandeling en het veilige gebruik van GGO's die nadelige gevolgen kunnen hebben voor het behoud en het duurzame gebruik van de biologische diversiteit, waarbij ook rekening wordt gehouden met de risico's voor de gezondheid van de mens.
