At its 33rd Annual Meeting in 2011, the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO) adopted a number of fishing opportunities for 2012 of certain stocks in Subareas 1-4 of the NAFO Convention Area.
Tijdens haar 33ste jaarlijkse vergadering in 2011 heeft de Visserijorganisatie voor het noordwestelijk deel van de Atlantische Oceaan (North West Atlantic Fisheries Organisation, NAFO) een aantal vangstmogelijkheden voor 2012 vastgesteld voor bepaalde bestanden in de deelgebieden 1-4 van het NAFO-verdragsgebied.

– Mr President, the Commission urges Parliament to give its consent to the approval of amendments to the Convention on Future Multilateral Cooperation in the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries, known collectively as the Amendment to the NAFO Convention.
− (EN) Mijnheer de Voorzitter, de Commissie dringt er bij het Parlement op aan om zijn toestemming te geven voor de goedkeuring van de amendementen op het verdrag inzake toekomstige multilaterale samenwerking op visserijgebied in het noordwestelijk deel van de Atlantische Oceaan, die collectief worden aangeduid als het Amendement op het NAFO-verdrag.

– (PT) The main objective of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO) is to ensure the rational management and conservation of fisheries resources in the area of the NAFO Convention.
– (PT) De hoofddoelstelling van de visserijorganisatie voor het noordwestelijk deel van de Atlantische Oceaan (NAFO) is om rationeel beheer en behoud van de visbestanden in het gebied van het NAFO-Verdrag te waarborgen.

The primary objective of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO) is to contribute, through consultation and cooperation, to the optimum use, rational management and conservation of fisheries resources in the area included in the NAFO Convention, and to promote ideas for international cooperation in order to improve the sustainable management of deep-sea marine resources according to scientific principles.
De NAFO heeft als prioritaire doelstelling om door middel van raadpleging en samenwerking een bijdrage te leveren aan het optimale gebruik, een verstandig beheer en het behoud van de visbestanden in het gebied dat onder het NAFO-Verdrag valt, en ook om ideeën over internationale samenwerking te bevorderen met als doel het duurzaam beheer van de mariene hulpbronnen op volle zee te verbeteren aan de hand van wetenschappelijke bevindingen.
