As regards adaptivity, until 12.6.2018, either clause 4.2.7 of this harmonised standard or clause 4.8 of harmonised standard EN 301 893 v1.8.1 may be used; after that date, only clause 4.2.7 of this harmonised standard may be used.

6.3. All measuring instruments in the sample shall be individually examined and appropriate tests set out in the relevant harmonised standards and/or normative documents , and/or equivalent tests set out in other relevant technical specifications, shall be carried out in order to verify theirconformity with the applicable requirements of this Directive and to determine whether the lot is accepted or rejected. In the absence of such harmonised standard, or normative document , the notified body concerned shall decide on the appropriate tests to be carried out.
6.3. (36) The advisory procedure should be used for the implementing decisions with respect to the objections to harmonised standards which the Commission considers justified and where the references to the harmonised standard concerned were not yet published in the Official Journal of the European Union, given that the relevant standard did not yet lead to the presumption of conformity with the essential requirements set out in the applicable Union harmonisation legislation.

Therefore, it is appropriate to draw on best practices resulting from the application of harmonised standards adopted by the European Committee for Standardisation on the basis of a remit issued by the Commission in accordance with Directive 98/34/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 June 1998 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations and of rules on Information Society services , such as the harmonised standard concerning general requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies, and the harmonised standard concerning requirements for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies for use in accreditation or other forms of recognition, the references of which have been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, as well as Document EA-6/03 and other technical documents developed by the European co-operation for Accreditation or by other bodies.

Where the machinery is referred to in Annex IV and has not been manufactured in accordance with the harmonised standards referred to in Article 7(2), or only partly in accordance with such standards, or if the harmonised standards do not cover all the relevant essential health and safety requirements or if no harmonised standards exist for the machinery in question, the manufacturer or his authorised representative shall apply one of the following procedures:
