whereas the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon created a new situation in the EU in the field of human rights by making the Charter of Fundamental Rights (‘the Charter’) legally binding, thus transforming basic values into concrete rights; whereas since its adoption the Charter has become a source of inspiration for the case-law of European courts; whereas the Commission has issued an annual report on implementation of the Charter, and the promotion and implementation of fundamental rights based on the Charter have to be covered by the FRA annual reports,

Underlines the need for an ambitious fundamental rights policy, following the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, and the need to make the fundamental rights provided for in the Charter as effective as possible; asks the Commission to ensure the compatibility of each legal initiative with fundamental rights as well as guarantee that Member States respect the Charter when implementing EU law; calls for the strengthening of capabilities for monitoring, and applying the treaty mechanisms against, violations of the Charter of Fundamental Rights;

The Agreement respects the fundamental rights and observes the principles recognised in particular by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (the Charter), notably the right to respect for private and family life, recognised in Article 7 of the Charter, the right to the protection of personal data, recognised in Article 8 of the Charter and the right to effective remedy and fair trial recognised in Article 47 of the Charter.
De overeenkomst eerbiedigt de grondrechten en neemt de beginselen in acht die met name in het Handvest van de grondrechten van de Europese Unie („het handvest”) zijn neergelegd, met name het recht op eerbiediging van het privéleven en het familie- en gezinsleven, overeenkomstig artikel 7 van het handvest, het recht op de bescherming van persoonsgegevens, overeenkomstig artikel 8 van het handvest, en het recht op een doeltreffende voorziening in rechte en op een onpartijdig gerecht, overeenkomstig artikel 47 van het handvest.

3. In so far as this Charter contains rights which correspond to rights guaranteed by the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the meaning and scope of those rights shall be the same as those laid down by the said Convention.
3. Voor zover dit Handvest rechten bevat die corresponderen met rechten welke zijn gegarandeerd door het Europees Verdrag tot bescherming van de rechten van de mens en de fundamentele vrijheden, zijn de inhoud en reikwijdte ervan dezelfde als die welke er door genoemd verdrag aan worden toegekend.
