| The purpose of this Communication is first to set out the particular problems which SMEs active in more than one Member State face in the company tax area and to examine how these undermine the functioning of the Internal Market and, secondly, based on the work of recent years and the Commission's current company tax strategy, to present a possible, practically viable solution based on the "Home State Taxation" approach.
