Taking into account the serious time constraints and delays experienced at the beginning of the current programming period, your Rapporteur underlines the absolute necessity for a timely and comprehensive discussion on the future of EU cohesion policy post 2020 and its alignment with the revised/upcoming long term Strategy for the EU and the new MFF; your Rapporteur also recalls that there will be elections for the European Parliament in 2019 with a new Commission entering into functions which will deal with both the evaluation of Europe 2020 Strategy and the upcoming long term Union strategy and with a new programming period.
