To help achieve this goal, the Commission should, as a matter of urgency, give a clear mandate to the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) to prepare technical performance standards for advanced biofuels and final fuel blends and, where necessary, to revise conventional biofuel standards to ensure that the quality of the final fuel product will not reduce the CO 2 emissions performance or the overall operational performance of vehicles.
