In 2004, Ms Soewarta took up the position as a Member and, later, Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Commissioner for Energy, Andris Piebalgs (2004-2010) and remained in Commissioner Piebalgs' team during a part of his subsequent mandate as Commissioner for Development.
