IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

This includes working with industry to streamline licensing practices and industry agreements for more sustained use and wider availability of European works; investing in online tools for the legal digital distribution of European works in countries where they have not been released in cinemas or where there is no national distributor; supporting a catalogue of European films to give VOD services a well curated catalogue of films from different producers; and promoting interoperable standard identifiers for seamless and reliable identification of works. Promote wider access to EU works, and address linguistic barriers through more efficient funding subtitling and dubbing (including an online repository); investing in a European aggregator so that people can find more easily a legal offering of films online; promoting the use of data and automated tools for content recommendation, in view of developing and enlarging audiences for European works; working with film industry to promote the discoverability of European films and exploring joint promotion strategies for European co-productions; and creating and funding in 2017 a catalogue of European films for educational purposes to present the diversity and quality of European films to young audiences. Exploring new business models, starting with the EU animation sector by discussing how animation films and television animation can travel even better and discussing how the sector can scale up.

Member States and their relevant authorities remain competent with regard to the identification, analysis and solving of practical problems relating to the enforcement of relevant Union law on working conditions and social protection at work, and for deciding what measures to take at national level to give effect to the outcomes of the activities of the Platform.

Recognises the work undertaken by the Commission for the creation of a European Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN); calls on the Commission to put forward a proposal for a European TIN, based on the outline for a European TIN in the Commission’s Action Plan on the fight against tax fraud and tax evasion of 2012 (action 22); recalls that TINs are considered to provide the best means of identifying taxpayers and urges, therefore, for this project to be accelerated; calls on the Commission, by the same token, to actively work for the creation of a similar identification number on a global level, such as the Regulatory Oversight Committee’s global Legal Entities Identifier (LEI);

Notes that the Agency's technical staff members need to be commonly recruited from national aviation authorities and the aviation industry; understands that the staff members must have sufficient and up-to-date technical experience of working in the field of aviation to perform a technical check of documents demonstrating compliance for the purposes of ensuring an adequate level of aviation safety as requested by the applicable Union legislation; is concerned however that this situation could cause conflicts of interest if a staff member recruited from an aircraft manufacturer works and takes decisions at the Agency on the certification of the aircraft he/she used to work on while employed by the manufacturer and, if not detected and adequately managed, could result in a conflict of interest situation; recognises however that the Agency has put in place a certification procedure where impartiality of the decision-making process is guaranteed through the collegiality of the technical assessments and the decision-making process itself; also understands that the Agency is in the process of setting up an Agency-wide policy in the area of codes of conduct including identification, prevention, monitoring and dealing with the consequences of potential conflict of interest cases which will help the Agency to further improve the identification and handling of conflict of interests situations in such a way that aviation safety is not put at risk at any time;

However, the identification provided for in paragraph 1 is not necessary for an animal intended for slaughter if the animal is transported directly from the veterinary border inspection post to a slaughterhouse situated in the Member State where the checks referred to in the first subparagraph are carried out and the animal is slaughtered within five working days of undergoing those checks.
