Simply put, I am hopeful that no attorney or judge will advance any arguments that rely on inappropriate or prejudicial gender stereotypes, be it the weak, defenceless woman or the overpowering man, to determine the reasonableness of an action thereby suggesting that a woman should not have fought back or that a man should have fought back harder.
J'espère tout simplement qu'aucun juge ou avocat n'appuiera son argumentaire sur des stéréotypes sexuels préjudiciables ou inappropriés — tels que la femme faible et sans défense ou l'homme tout-puissant —, afin d'établir le caractère raisonnable d'un acte, car on donnerait alors à penser que la femme n'aurait pas dû se défendre ou que l'homme aurait dû se défendre plus vigoureusement.
