Because of the driving force of people like Allan J., Bob Stanfield and Ike Smith, the matter was partially solved, and so began the Sydney Steel Corporation Act and Sysco in the legislature of Nova Scotia, the formation of Devco or the Cape Breton Development Corporation, and the take-over from Dosco of both the steel plant in Sydney and all of the coal mines in industrial Cape Breton.
