Believes that the family must be protected, as the setting most likely to foster the full and harmonious development of the child - including single parent families and homosexual couples - and considers that children, whatever their nationality, have a permanent right to a family, which constitutes the natural environment for their growth and well being, as stated in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; calls on the Member States to ensure that, with regard to the right of custody where the parents are separated, children will no longer be the focus of interminable legal wrangles;
66. juge indispensable de protéger la famille, lieu privilégié du développement et de l"épanouissement harmonieux de l"enfance - en ce compris la famille monoparentale et le couple homosexuel -, et considère que l'enfant, quelle que soit sa nationalité, a toujours droit à une famille, qui constitue l'environnement lui permettant de s'épanouir pleinement, conformément à la Convention des Nations unies sur les droits de l'enfant; demande aux États membres de faire en sorte, s'agissant du droit de garde en cas de séparation, que l'enfant ne soit plus l'enjeu d'inextricables combats judiciaires;
