For identifying the strategic innovation challenges to be addressed by the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), good use should be made of the strategic objectives and thematic priorities identified by industry and other stakeholders from the RD community in the Strategic Research Agendas of the European Technology Platforms and Joint Technology Initiatives, as well as the near-market cluster projects of the intergovernmental EUREKA initiative. Furthermore, once selected, the KICs have to establish clear linkages with relevant initiatives at European level.
Si l'on veut cerner les défis stratégiques que doivent relever, dans le domaine de l'innovation, les communautés de la connaissance et de l’innovation (CCI), il convient de tirer le meilleur parti des objectifs stratégiques et des priorités thématiques retenus par les entreprises et les autres parties prenantes de la communauté de la RD dans les agendas stratégiques de recherche des plateformes technologiques européennes et dans les initiatives technologiques conjointes, ainsi que dans les projets définis, au titre de l'initiative intergouvernementale Eureka, par les pôles fonctionnant dans des conditions proches de celles du marché. De plus, une fois sélectionnées, les CCI doivent établir clairement des liens avec les initiatives afférentes au niveau européen.

(8) Through its Governing Board, the EIT should identify strategic long-term challenges for innovation in Europe, particularly in trans- and/or inter-disciplinary areas including those already identified at European level in the strategic research agendas of the European technology platforms and joint technology initiatives as well as the near-market cluster projects of the intergovernmental EUREKA initiative , and should provide a transparent and excellence-based selection process for Knowledge and Innovation Communities (hereinafter referred to as "KICs") in these fields.
(8) Par l'intermédiaire de son comité directeur, l'IEIT devrait cerner les défis stratégiques auxquels est confrontée à long terme l'innovation en Europe, notamment dans les domaines transdisciplinaires et/ou interdisciplinaires, y compris ceux déjà circonscrits au niveau européen dans les agendas stratégiques de recherche des plateformes technologiques européennes et dans les initiatives technologiques conjointes, ainsi que dans les projets définis, au titre de l'initiative intergouvernementale Eureka, par les pôles fonctionnant dans des conditions proches de celles du marché , et proposer un processus transparent et fondé sur des critères d'excellence pour la sélection de communautés de la connaissance et de l'innovation (ci-après, les "CCI") dans ces domaines.
