– (RO) There is ever-growing talk at the moment about increasing the EU’s global competitiveness; tourism is one of the most important socio-economic activities, generating approximately 5% of the European Union’s GDP.

13. As part of the Action Plan for Growth, Cyprus shall take initiatives to strengthen the competitiveness of its tourism sector, notably by implementing the tourism-sector action plan, by identifying impediments to competition in the tourism sector, by adopting a new national tourism strategy, and by implementing an aero-political strategy taking into account the Union external aviation and aviation agreements, while ensuring sufficient air connectivity.
13. Dans le cadre du plan d'action en faveur de la croissance, Chypre prend des mesures pour renforcer la compétitivité de son secteur du tourisme, notamment en mettant en œuvre un plan d'action pour le secteur du tourisme, en recensant les freins à la concurrence dans ce secteur, en adoptant une nouvelle stratégie nationale pour le tourisme et en mettant en œuvre, dans le domaine de l'aviation, une stratégie politique qui tienne compte de la politique extérieure de l'Union dans ce domaine et des accords de l'Union en matière de transport aérien, tout en assurant une connectivité aérienne suffisante.

10 Considers that the development of a new, comprehensive and competitive tourism framework and policy requires an integrated approach and an efficient coordination of local, regional, national and Community measures which have a direct or indirect impact on tourism, observing the subsidiarity principle; calls on the Member States to improve infrastructures, to facilitate access to finance and to contribute to legislative and fiscal harmonisation at European level as a means towards a stable governance for the sector worldwide;
