Anna Diamantopoulou, the Member of the Commission responsible for employment and social affairs, welcomed the decision today, explaining that "the Federal Single Programming Document under Objective 3 sets out a programme which demonstrates the Belgian Government's commitment to conducting an active employment policy which is designed to boost employment (and also dealing with one of the specific problems of the labour market in Belgium) whilst taking account of the particular nature of Federal competence in Belgium and the need to ensure that the programme does not clash with the plans of the Federal authorities".
