Welcomes the adoption of relevant legislation for the protection and promotion of communities and of the religious and cultural heritage, and the successful taking-over of responsibility by Kosovo for the security of most cultural and religious sites of the Serbian Orthodox Church; particularly welcomes, in this connection, the creation of a special unit within the Kosovo police that will be exclusively dedicated to this task; calls for further implementation of the relevant legislation, particularly the Law on Communities; deplores the Kosovo authorities’ refusal to let Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic visit Kosovo and attend the Orthodox Christmas celebration in Gracanica; welcomes, in this respect, the meeting between Serbian President Nikolic and Kosovo President Jahjaga that took place in Brussels on 6 February 2013 in an open and constructive atmosphere under the auspices of Vice-President/High Representative Catherine Ashton, in the context of the efforts to normalise relations between the two sides;
48. salue l'adoption d'une législation pertinente sur la protection et la promotion des communautés et du patrimoine religieux et culturel ainsi que la prise en charge réussie par le Kosovo de la sécurité de la plupart des sites religieux et culturels de Église orthodoxe serbe; se félicite en particulier, à cet égard, de la création d'une unité spéciale, au sein de la police kosovare, qui se consacrera spécifiquement à cette tâche; demande la poursuite de la mise en œuvre de la législation pertinente, notamment au travers de la loi sur les communautés; déplore le refus opposé par les autorités kosovares de laisser le Président serbe Tomislav Nikolic visiter le Kosovo et assister aux célébrations du Noël orthodoxe à Gracanica; se félicite à cet égard de la rencontre entre le président serbe, M. Recognises the challenges facing the project of the Union for the Mediterranean and acknowledges that it has not yet fulfilled its task and has not been instrumental in enhancing cooperation in the wider Mediterranean region; supports the current process of relaunching the Union for the Mediterranean, and, at the same time, emphasises that it should play a major role in the democratisation process which has commenced on the southern shore of the Mediterranean; takes the view that the process needs more attention and commitment from the Union, including steps to promote regional cooperation; therefore calls for a re-examination of the existing structures for regional cooperation and their adaptation to the needs arising as from the new situation, harnessing the full potential of the EEAS; insists in particular on the full incorporation of the European side of the partnership into the conventional EU framework under the auspices of the High Representative/Vice-President and the European External Action Service;
4. reconnaît les défis auxquels le projet de l'Union pour la Méditerranée se trouve confronté et admet que celui-ci n'a pas encore à ce jour rempli sa mission et qu'il n'a pas contribué à renforcer la coopération dans la région méditerranéenne élargie; soutient l'actuel processus visant à sa relance; souligne en même temps qu'il devrait jouer un rôle important dans le processus démocratique ouvert sur la rive sud de la Méditerranée; considère que ce processus nécessite une attention et un engagement accrus de l'Union, y compris des actions de promotion de la coopération régionale; demande dès lors le réexamen des structures existantes pour la coopération régionale et leur adaptation aux besoins découlant de la nouvelle situation en exploitant tout le potentiel du SEAE; insiste en particulier sur une intégration complète de la partie européenne du partenariat dans le cadre conventionnel de l'Union sous les auspices du haut représentant/vice-président et du Service européen pour l'action extérieure;

The EU exhorts the Burundian Government, National Assembly, Senate and all political parties to take without delay all steps necessary for the organization of the elections, in line with the agenda set by the Regional Initiative at its meeting on August 6, and to engage in the power sharing agreement reached under the auspices of Vice President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, as facilitator of the Regional Initiative.
