(15) Where, for the purpose of subsection (2), (3) or (4), a lawyer makes a claim that a named client of the lawyer has a solicitor-client privilege in respect of information or a document, the lawyer shall at the same time communicate to the Minister or to a person duly authorized to act for the Minister the address of the client last known to the lawyer so that the Minister may endeavour to advise the client of the claim of privilege that has been made on the client’s behalf and thereby give the client an opportunity, if it is practicable within the time limited by this section, to waive the claim of privilege before the matter is to be decided by a judge or other tribunal.

If the Tribunal considers that the conduct of an agent, adviser or lawyer before the Tribunal is incompatible with the dignity of the Tribunal or with the requirements of the proper administration of justice, or that such agent, adviser or lawyer is using his rights for purposes other than those for which they were granted, it shall inform the person concerned.

French Law Nu90-1259 of 31.12.1990, amending Law Nu71-1130 of 31 December 1971, on reform of certain judicial and legal professions, which entered into force on 1 January 1992, amalgamated the professions of lawyer and of legal adviser by suppressing the profession of legal adviser. The 1990 Law also reserved legal advice for lawyers (with some exceptions for other professions).
