The Polish coal industry is in a very similar position to the German coal industry, the geological conditions often being very similar.

(60) The sums of DEM 3138 million and DEM 1889 million that Germany is proposing to grant to the coal industry under Article 4 of Decision No 3632/93/ECSC, for 2000 and 2001 respectively, are intended to cover the difference between production costs and the selling price for coal freely agreed between the contracting parties on the basis of the conditions prevailing on the world market for coal of a similar quality from non-member countries.
(60) Les montants de 3138 et 1889 millions de DEM que l'Allemagne envisage d'octroyer à l'industrie houillère au titre de l'article 4 de la décision n° 3632/93/CECA, pour respectivement les années 2000 et 2001, ont pour objectif de couvrir l'écart entre le coût de production et le prix de vente de la houille résultant du libre consentement des parties contractantes au regard des conditions qui prévalent sur le marché mondial pour des charbons de qualité similaire en provenances des pays tiers.
