Across the ACP countries, numerous regional organisations have emerged and some have become key actors in international relations, with the African Union, the Pacific Islands Forum and Cariforum especially strengthening their respective role, as well as sub-regional organisations in Africa including amongst others ECOWAS and SADC.

At its Annual Meeting in 2010, the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) adopted a recommendation limiting the number of vessels actively fishing for south Pacific albacore in the Convention Area south of 20° S. Consequently, it should be ensured that Union vessels continue to operate without targeting that species in the WCPFC Convention Area south of 20° S. Regulation (EU) No 40/2013 should therefore be amended accordingly.

Directive 2008/68/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 September 2008 on the inland transport of dangerous goods (4) extended the application of the provisions of certain international agreements to cover national traffic in order to harmonise the conditions under which dangerous goods are transported by road, rail and inland waterways across the Union.
