IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

The provisions of paragraphs one to six inclusive and of paragraph eight of the agreement made between the Government of the Dominion of Canada and the Government of the Province of Ontario on the 24th day of March, 1924, which said agreement was confirmed by statute of Canada, fourteen and fifteen George the Fifth chapter forty-eight shall (except so far as they relate to the Bed of Navigable Waters Act) apply to the lands included in such Indian reserves as may hereafter be set aside under the last preceding clause as if the said agreement had been made between the parties hereto, and the provisions of the said paragraphs shall likewise apply to the lands included in the reserves heretofore selected and surveyed, except that neither the said lands nor the proceeds of the disposition thereof shall in any circumstances become administrable by or be paid to the Province.

2. Any sale, lease or other disposition made pursuant to the provisions of the last preceding paragraph may include or may be limited to the minerals (including the precious metals) contained in or under the lands sold, leased or otherwise disposed of, but every grant shall be subject to the provisions of the statute of the Province of Ontario entitled “The Bed of Navigable Waters Act”, Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1914, chapter thirty-one.
2. Toute vente, location ou autre aliénation faite en conformité des dispositions de l’article qui précède immédiatement peut inclure les minéraux (y compris les métaux précieux) contenus dans ou sous les terrains vendus, donnés à bail ou autrement aliénés, ou peut être limitée à ces minéraux, mais chaque cession est subordonnée aux dispositions du statut de la province d’Ontario intitulé : « The Bed of Navigable Waters Act », chapitre trente et un des Statuts revisés d’Ontario, 1914.

9. Every sale, lease or other disposition heretofore made under the Great Seal of Canada or otherwise under the direction of the Government of Canada of lands which were at the time of such sale, lease or other disposition included in any Indian Reserve in the Province of Ontario, is hereby confirmed, whether or not such sale, lease or other disposition included the precious metals, but subject to the provisions of the aforesaid statute of the Province of Ontario entitled “The Bed of Navigable Waters Act”, and the consideration received in respect of any such sale lease or other disposition shall be and continue to be dealt with by the Dominion of Canada in accordance with the provisions of the paragraph of this agreement numbered 1, and the consideration received in respect of any sale, lease or other disposition heretofore made under the Great Seal of the Province of Ontario, or under the direction of the Government of the said Province, of any lands which at any time formed part of any Indian Reserve, shall remain under the exclusive control and at the disposition of the Province of Ontario.
9. Toute vente, location ou autre aliénation faite jusqu’à présent sous le grand sceau du Canada ou autrement sous la direction du gouvernement du Canada, de terres qui étaient, à l’époque de cette vente, location ou autre aliénation, incluses dans quelque réserve de sauvages de la province d’Ontario, est par les présentes confirmée, que cette vente, location ou autre aliénation comprenne ou non des métaux précieux, mais subordonnément aux dispositions du susdit statut de la province d’Ontario intitulé : « The Bed of Navigable Waters Act »; et la considération reçue relativement à toute pareille vente, location ou autre aliénation est et continue d’être administrée par le Dominion du Canada en conformité des dispositions de l’article numéro 1 du présent traité et la considération reçue relativement à toute vente, location et autre aliénation faite jusqu’à présent sous le grand sceau de la province d’Ontario, ou sous la direction du gouvernement de ladite province, de toutes terres qui, à une époque quelconque, firent partie de quelque réserve de sauvages, reste sous le contrôle exclusif et à la disposition de la province d’Ontario.

10. Nothing herein contained, except the provision for the application of “The Bed of Navigable Waters Act” aforesaid, shall affect the interpretation which would, apart from this agreement, be put upon the words of any letters patent heretofore or hereafter issued under the Great Seal of Canada or the Great Seal of the Province of Ontario, or of any lease or other conveyance, or of any contract heretofore or hereafter made under the direction of the Government of Canada or of the Province of Ontario.
10. Rien de contenu aux présentes, sauf la disposition concernant l’application de « The Bed of Navigable Waters Act » susdit, ne doit porter atteinte à l’interprétation qui, en dehors du présent traité, aurait été donnée aux expressions de toutes lettres patentes émises jusqu’à présent ou à l’avenir sous le grand sceau du Canada ou le grand sceau de la province d’Ontario, ou de tout bail ou autre transport, ou de tout contrat fait jusqu’à présent ou à l’avenir sous la direction du gouvernement du Canada ou de la province d’Ontario.

Most provincial legislation exists to determine waterways deemed for public usage, as does the Beds of Navigable Waters Act in the Province of Ontario, or to define marine insurance liability, as does the Marine Insurance Act in the Province of Manitoba.

133. Highlights the advantages and potential of short sea shipping as a sustainable and efficient transport mode that easily bypasses land bottlenecks and has sufficient capacity for growth; asks, therefore, the Commission to support and promote short sea shipping by fully implementing the acts concerning short sea shipping; considers that the fact that short sea shipping is still viewed in law as international transport is a hindrance to its growth; therefore calls on the Commission to put forward a proposal to integrate short sea crossings into the European internal market; underlines that this must not interfere with the UNCLOS and IMO Conventions including the "freedom of navigation" and the "right of innocent passage" within the EEZ in international waters (High Seas);
