Ludwig Erhard's liberalisation programme, which he used to create the 'soziale Marktwirtschaft' or 'social market economy', grew largely out of the work of a group of economists connected to the University of Freiburg, whose school became known as the 'Ordo-Liberals' after the famous journal 'Ordo' in which they published their articles.
